Living at the Erdbeerhof - sustainable and close to nature
▼

45Gleidingen is part of Hannover-Laatzen, a southern suburb of the capital of Lower Saxony and is located on the border between the region of Hanover and the district of Hildesheim. The location, not far from the Leineauen (alluvial zone of the river Leine) nature reserve and the good public transport connections, make Gleidingen a preferred place to live. As part of a feasibility study, the architects of .bieker Nord examined a plot of land near the strawberry farm that gives the site its name for possible use as a residential complex.

Our design provides for a four-story block with a row of gable roofs, thus taking up the defining elements of the small-scale surrounding buildings and also providing seven additional residential units. Projections and recesses give structure to the large volume and give it the impression of a smaller scale. A total of 43 new apartments in solid wood construction can be created.

The 2-4 room apartments are accessed via four separate stairways, which connect all apartments to the underground garage. All apartments have balconies, loggias or terraces and offer an unobstructed view of nature.

Solid wood construction
In the new building, walls and the ceilings are prefabricated in wood. Only the bracing elements and the load-bearing basement are built in concrete. This minimizes construction time and costs and also ensures a good climate and comfort in the living spaces. The wooden facade is suspended.
